The Dhaka Times Desk Saudi Arabia has issued a warning after banning the activities of Tabligh Jamaat, a hundred-year-old Islamic preaching organization of Deoband-based Sunni Muslims in India.
In continuation of which, the Minister of Islamic Affairs of the country has ordered to warn people about this organization in the sermon of Friday prayers. Abdul Latif Al Shaikh.
In a tweet last Monday, it was reported that association with Tabligh and 'Dawa' groups i.e. evangelical biased groups is banned in Saudi Arabia.
The Tablighi Jamaat was started in 1926 by Muhammad Ilyas Kandhalvi as a branch of the Deobandi movement in Mewa, India. The leaders of this organization believe that the main and fundamental task of this organization is to encourage the observance of the instructions of Islam among the common Muslims. Because of that, the Tabligh Jamaat-supporters of different countries have condemned this decision of the Saudi government.
There was no open Tabligh activity in Saudi Arabia for a long time, considering it to be in conflict with Islam. In 2016, the then Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, Abd-al-Aziz Ibn Baz, also issued a fatwa against the Tablighi Jamaat. Their complaint is that 'Fazayale Amal' is their main book. The Tablighis give more importance to this book than the Qur'an and Sahih Hadith. It is believed that other countries may follow Saudi Arabia in banning Tabligh.
Meanwhile, India's Deobandi scholar Sheikh Salman Hussaini Nadvi criticized the Saudi government on this matter. He said that the current Saudi government is working against the Muslim world as an agent of international imperialist power, which is more clear in such a direction. However, India's Darul Uloom Deoband has not responded yet!
Meanwhile, Bangladesh scholar Maulana Ubaidur Rahman Khan Nadvi said that the Saudi government cannot unilaterally condemn and discourage a hundred-year-old Dini movement. He also said that Maulana Muhammad Rabe Hasani Nadvi, Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, Maulana Mufti Taqi Usmani and the best scholars of the world should be consulted in this regard.
