The Dhaka Times Desk India has complained to the US alleging that Pakistan has misused F-16 fighter jets without complying with the contract. The United States has also sought a detailed response from Pakistan on the matter.
The US-made supersonic fighter F-16 was sold to Pakistan. Certain conditions were attached during the sale. After the Indian Air Force entered Pakistan's airspace and attacked, Pakistan entered India with F-16 to retaliate.
On Sunday, the US Embassy in Islamabad asked Pakistan for a detailed response to the violation of the F-16 aircraft sale agreement.
India has presented the wreckage of a missile that could be launched from an F-16. They sued the United States. Moreover, the United States is being informed about the use of that missile. After that, the United States asked Pakistan for reliable information on the matter.
Pakistan says it was not attacked by F-16s when Indian warplanes entered the country across the Line of Control in Kashmir. Islamabad says it was essentially an act of self-defense.
A spokesperson for the US Embassy said, "We are seeking more information on the matter." We take all allegations of misuse of defense weapons seriously.
US Department of Defense spokesman Lt. Col. Conn Faulkner said, "We cannot discuss the details of the deal because of undisclosed rules governing the sale of military arms abroad."
The Pentagon said the F-16s were given to Pakistan to strengthen its military posture against terrorism.
According to Indian media reports, Pakistan bought F-16 fighter jets from the United States subject to certain conditions. Among them, two things are that the F-16 aircraft can only be used to eliminate terrorism, this aircraft cannot be used to attack any country - there was a condition.
