The Dhaka Times Desk The coming very strong cyclone 'Fani'. This cyclone hit India's Puri with a speed of 200 km. Cyclone Fani will hit Bangladesh today (Friday) at any time from 6 pm.
Analyzing its movement, the Meteorological Department said that it will hit Bangladesh by Khulna coast around 6 pm today (Friday). Then the whole country will be under the cyclone. Bangladesh may face gale force winds of 100-120 kmph along with sea waves during the impact.
Director of Meteorological Department Samchuddin Ahmed said this in the Inter-ministerial Disaster Management Coordinating Committee meeting at the Secretariat after warning signal No. 7 was shown at Mongla and Payra seaports.

According to the special weather bulletin, the sea is very rough near the center of the cyclone. That is why Mangla and Payra seaports have been asked to lower local warning signal number 4 (four) and show danger signal number 7 (seven) instead.
Coastal districts of Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barisal, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their nearby islands and chars will be under danger signal number 7.
Chittagong Sea Port has been asked to lower local warning signal number 4 (four) and display danger signal number 6 (six) instead.
The coastal districts of Chittagong, Noakhali, Lakshmipur, Feni, Chandpur and their remote islands and chars will be under 6 (six) danger signal.
On the other hand, Cox's Bazar sea port has been asked to display local warning signal number 4 (four).
Under the influence of cyclone and new moon, the coastal districts of Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Barguna, Chandpur, Bhola, Patuakhali, Barisal, Pirojpur, Jhalkathi, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their remote islands and lowlands of Chars are in high tide of 4 to 5 feet higher than normal tide. Flooding is feared.
During the passage of this cyclone, Chittagong, Noakhali, Lakshipur, Feni, Chandpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barisal, Bhola, Jhalkathi, Pirojpur, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira districts and their remote islands and chars with heavy to very heavy rainfall of 90 to 110 km per hour. Gusts or gales may blow at m.speed.
Meanwhile, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Enamur Rahman said, all preparations have been made to deal with the cyclone, we can deal with it, we can also protect livestock. Today (Friday) the state minister for relief called for prayers in all religious institutions.
Relief ministry officials said that 56,000 volunteers have already been kept ready in 19 coastal districts. They will bring people to cyclone shelters as soon as directed. There are 3,868 shelters in 19 districts in the coastal region. Most of the shelters have been kept ready, the government said.
