Every house in the Piplantri village of Rajasthan, India celebrates the birth of a girl child by planting 111 trees. Although still in villages and cities, it is considered fear of dowry or indolence to marry a girl. However, in this village, girls are not married unless they are 18 years old after accepting the family's Lakshmi. Even girls are given adequate education.
The rule was introduced by Shyam Sundar Paliwal, the former village head of Piplantri village. He inaugurated it by planting 111 trees himself on the occasion of becoming the father of a girl child. The girl was not even old when he died.
After Paliwal did not perform the duties of the village headman, other families of the village also started following his path. At one point it became the custom of the village.
Not only that, when a girl child is born in a village, all the families together form a small 'trust' for her future. 31 thousand rupees are deposited in this trust. One-third of it is provided by the girl's parents. The rest are the people of the village.
This money works as a 'fund' with the girl till she reaches the age of 20 years. It is only because of this 'trust' that the girl never feels like a burden on her parents.
Against this 'trust' the girl's parents have to come to an agreement with the society. There they vow that they will not marry their daughter until she turns 18. In addition, the girl will also be provided with adequate education. He also promised to take care of the 111 trees planted on the occasion of the birth of his daughter.
There is no need to overstate the benefits of planting trees. These trees are the wealth of the family and the girl, and the environment of the village is also becoming healthy. As this village culture shows respect for girls, it also sets a unique example of their love for nature.
It should be noted that in the last 6 years, about two and a half lakh trees have been planted in this village. This culture has also made the social life of the village very peaceful. The criminality of the society has also decreased dramatically. The love for the girl child has also increased many times in that village.
