Bangladesh is called the paradise of nature. The greatness of nature is spread all over the country. Along with eye-catching architecture and antiquities. One of these monuments is the Majidbaria Shahi Jame Mosque in Mirzaganj, Patuakhali district.
According to media reports, this ancient Muslim architecture was built 553 years ago. During that Sultanate period, the area was named Masjidbaria after the name of this mosque.
According to media reports, later a UP chairman named Majid changed Masjidbaria to Majidbaria.
With the passage of time, the mosque has lost its beauty and tradition. These traditions are getting destroyed day by day due to lack of care of art and architectural monuments. Hundreds of visitors flock to see this historic mosque. This mosque is located 20 km southwest of Patuakhali district town and 12 km east of Barguna district town.
According to various historical sources, Ruknuddin Shah, the independent Sultan of Ilyach Shahi dynasty, occupied the then Bakla and built this mosque in 1465. This mosque in Chandradwip (present day Barisal division) is the first architectural feat made of brick.
According to media reports, the mosque has a balcony. There are also 3 beautiful arches with craftsmanship. The eastern side of the mosque has 3 archways and 6 pillars like 8 corner minarets. There are two windows each on the east-north and south sides. However, due to lack of renovation, the shutters and frames of the doors and windows are on the verge of collapsing.
A huge dome gives this mosque an inimitable beauty. The walls of this mosque are about 75 inches thick. The inner walls of this mosque also have some ancient traces of various crafted Muslim architecture. But carelessly the plaster of the wall is falling apart.
According to media reports, local residents feel that this mosque will become more beautiful and attractive if it is renovated soon. The history-tradition of Muslim rule in Bangladesh will survive as Islamic architecture for many ages.
