The Dhaka Times Desk The world's biggest tech show has plenty of medieval gadgets and little gems. On the eve of CES 2019, the annual consumer technology conference in Las Vegas, journalists and ambitious tech companies filled a conference hall to get a first look at some of this year's offerings.
The “CES Unveiled” event provides an opportunity to see what the tech themes will be all about this year so that everyone can easily see the features and innovations of the future. Many of the companies showed off similar innovations, such as multiple smart-home security cameras and various fuzzy robots for children who tire of their human playmates. Children's fuzzy robots will also play an important role in their intellectual development. There were some fun worthy entries like a water bottle with a Bluetooth speaker and a refrigerator that detects when you're out of stock and orders more. The event showcased some interesting ideas, but not all will be available or released to the market.
The highlight of the event was the delicious, fresh bread made on-site by the Breadbot, baked by a curb vending machine. The automatic device starts with dry ingredients and bakes a variety of breads, including white, whole wheat, nine grain, sourdough and honey oat. It bakes 10 loaves of bread in an hour and mixes, forms, proofs and cooks them all by itself. According to The Wilkinson Baking Company, the bread requires less storage because it is made on the spot.
Another eye-catcher at the event was the mobile breast pump that made a splash at CES years ago, and now multiple companies are anticipating the trend. Willow is back with a slightly updated version of its hands-free, cordless breast pump, with British company LV coming up with a similar device that can be worn under a bra and operated with minimal noise so moms can go about their normal tasks and routines. The LV is already available in the UK and will start shipping to the US in February.
A hands-free breast pump device will debut at CES with a … unique event. Imalak will use its nutrition devices to pump milk directly from two women on the show floor, which it claims is a first for CES. Nurturing is not a standalone pump, but a massage system that will work with a standard pump to increase milk output.
Although most inventions were designed for humans, fur animals were not overlooked. Volta, an Italian company, has a product called Mokki that recognizes each pet's face and then dispenses the appropriate food. It is a product and technology that is especially useful for different types of animals such as dogs and cats or animals with different dietary needs.
Each will cost around $189 when it's released in the US in September. It will also alert food intake and pet owners when it needs repurposing. The product will be able to recognize animal faces very easily and this innovative technology will become a part of the growing trend of AI training. A consumer robotics company called Anki recently launched a robot called Vector that works with the faces of individual cats. The week is just beginning, so expect more innovations that are fun, revolutionary and questionable.
