31-year-old Prema, a mother of three, was burdened with debt after her husband committed suicide 7 months ago. He has no money at all. His three children were crying for food. He did not get help to reach others. Finally, this poor mother sold her hair and put food in her children's mouths.
This incident happened recently in Salem city of Tamil Nadu state of India. The helpless woman later tried to commit suicide.
According to a report, Prema did not have any money last Friday. His three children were crying because of hunger. He reached out to some people under compulsion.
However, no one's mind melted. Standing on the street, he did not know what to do. Just then, a street vendor was offering to buy hair to make wigs.
Later, the woman cut her hair and sold it for Tk 150. From that money, he bought food for his children with 100 taka. Prema took the rest of the money and went to buy pesticides in a nearby shop.
A graphic designer named G Bala posted this incident of Premar on social media a week later. He wrote, 'Prema tried to commit suicide by eating poisonous arali seeds. But his sister came and stopped him.'
After posting the incident, many people came forward to help him. 1 lakh 45 thousand taka has already been collected for him.
After coming to know about the matter, Salem district administration has introduced Prema's monthly widow allowance last Thursday. Currently, Prema is working in a friend's brickyard in Bala.
