Will Myanmar accept the ICJ's order?

Myanmar has also been instructed to regularly inform what steps have been taken for that. But Myanmar rejected this ICZ order. Therefore, the big question has arisen at this moment - will Myanmar not accept this order? If not mean then what?

It should be noted that Kingsley Abbott, senior legal advisor and coordinator of the Global Accountability Initiative of the International Commission on Jurists, told the media on January 25, "The order is very important. Because the court's judicial oversight of whether Myanmar is fulfilling its obligation to protect the Rohingya under the Genocide Convention is also established here.'

Abbott told the media, 'Myanmar is legally obliged to comply with this order. To this end, Myanmar must inform the court regularly (initially every 4 months and then every 6 months) of the steps it has taken. The country will be under great pressure to comply with international legal obligations. Because the Supreme Court of the United Nations has given this order and the country has already accepted its jurisdiction.

But what will happen if Myanmar refuses to obey the order of the UN Supreme Court? The country claims that there was no genocide. The country's former military junta has been comfortable staying isolated from the world for decades to avoid international pressure.

Priya Pillai, head of the Asia Justice Coalition Secretariat and international law expert, said that if Myanmar does not comply with this order, it will become a question for international politics. It can then go to the UN Security Council and General Assembly. That is why disobeying this order will be against the interests of Myanmar. Why, this is the unanimous order of the World Court.

However, a full verdict on the Rohingya issue may take several years. Myanmar will be under pressure for a long time as it has to submit regular reports. The pressure will continue to come from the country's neighbors. As Malaysia has said, the order reflects international concern and the persecution of the Rohingya needs to be prosecuted.
