The 300-year-old Khosagar lake is located just east of Lakshmipur Raipur road in Dalal Bazar area of Laxmipur Sadar Upazila. Spread over an area of about 25 acres, the lake looks shrouded in mist from one end to the other. That is why the Dighi is called Khoya or Misty Dighi in the local language of Lakshmipur.
According to the locals, about 200 years ago, Brajavallav Roy, the landlord of Dalal Bazar, excavated this lake in approximately 1755. Later, zamindar Raja Gaur Kishore Roy did the renovation of the pond.
There are many legends associated with this ancient lake. It is said that a bridegroom was crossing Dighi with his bride. At that time, when the bridegrooms got thirsty, they went down to drink water near the lake. But when the bride goes down to the bank of the lake to drink water, something strange under the lake grabs the bride's feet and drags her into the deep water. Locals believe that after this incident, the pond has become such a deep hole that even in severe drought the hole never dries up. There is also another dighi named Kodal Dhawa Dighi and Dalal Bazar Mutt beside Khowasagar Dighi.
The traditional Khowsagar lake has now become a very popular tourist attraction in Laxmipur. Many trees and plants have been planted on the bank of the lake for beautification. In the evening, when the western and eastern sides of the lake are lit up, the scene is even more beautiful. Because of the clear water of the lake and the pleasant environment, many people who love recreation come to visit the banks of this beautiful lake every day.

You can go to Lakshmipur district by Greenland Express, Royal Coach, Econo, Himachal Express, Miami, Al Baraka, Jonaki Service or Dhaka Express bus from Syedabad Bus Terminal in capital Dhaka. You can also go to Laxmipur Moju Chowdhury Ghat by boat from Dhaka Sadar Ghat. From Lakshmipur district city, you can visit the historical Khowasagar Dighi located 10 km away by rickshaw or CNG.
