The Animal Health Research Center (CRESA) said on May 8 that the cat had a genetic heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which may have caused its sudden death. None of the problems found in the cat's body are at all consistent with infection with the Corona Virus (Covid-19). According to veterinarians, the virus has not affected the cat's health.
The cat is four years old and the cat's name is Negrito. The researchers did not provide any other information about the cat's owners to protect privacy.
But Natalia Makho, head of the Animal Health Research Center (CRESAR) in Barcelona, said very isolated cats could also be parallel victims of the epidemic. However, the possibility of human infection through them is very low.
