MV Rajhansi

On December 29, 2000, on the night of Eid-ul-Azha, there was a collision between two passenger launches named 'MV Jalkapot' and 'MV Rajhansi' in the Meghna River at Shatanal area of Matlab Upazila, Chandpur. 162 passengers of Rajhansi lost their lives.

MV Salahuddin

On May 3, 2002, the passenger launch named Salahuddin-2 sank in the Meghna River near Shatanal, Chandpur. 363 passengers from Bhola and Patuakhali districts died in that accident.

MV Nasreen-1

On July 8, 2003, 'MV Nasreen-1', bound for Lalmohan from Dhaka, broke the bottom of the launch due to excess passengers and cargo in Dakatiya area of Chandpur. The launch sank with more than 2,000 passengers. In this accident, the bodies of 641 people including heads of 128 families were recovered by the government. However, about 800 bodies were recovered as private individuals.

On March 28, 2011, a passenger launch called MV Coco-3 capsized in the Meghna river at the molehead area of Bara station in Chandpur.

MV Mirage

On May 15, 2014, the bodies of at least 22 passengers were recovered after the passenger launch MV Mirage-4 sank in the Meghna River near Munshiganj. The launch with more than 200 passengers was going from Dhaka to Sureshwar in Shariatpur.
