ঐতিহাসিক মাইসাহেবা জামে মসজিদ 1

After entering the town of Sherpur district, the first traditional Masjid was established at Maisaheb Jame. It is a traditional mosque of the area.

Built approximately 250 years ago, this mosque was renovated several times. However, the impression of tradition can be clearly seen in it. The two towering minarets of Maisaheb Masjid, located just south of Sherpur Government College, the heart of Sherpur city, can be seen from different parts of the city.

There is a story about the naming of this Maisaheba Jame Masjid. At that time Tinani zamindar of Sherpur invited the zamindar of Muktagacha. The zamindar of Muktagacha wants some land in Sherpur for his bounty. The zamindar of Sherpur decided to give the site of the mosque to the zamindar of Muktagacha and also ordered the demolition of the existing rent-collecting house with elephants. However, as soon as he went near the house with the elephant, the elephant sat down with salam. Hearing this, Tinani zamindar himself came and found a woman inside this room engaged in worship. The zamindar realizes his mistake and goes back apologizing. That woman's name was Mai Saheba. After Mai Saheba's death, the zamindar built a mosque here and named it Mai Saheba Jame Masjid.

The 3-storey Maisaheb Jame Masjid is fully air-conditioned. About 9 thousand worshipers can pray together in this mosque. At other times (except now during Corona) thousands of Muslims from Sherpur city and surrounding areas come to pray in this mosque every Friday. Maisahebah Jame Masjid is also known as the highest donation receiving mosque in Mymensingh Division. Non-Muslims also regularly donate to this mosque.
