The Dhaka Times Desk Mahatma Gandhi's gold-plated glasses are being auctioned in Britain. Auctioneers estimate that the glasses could fetch £10,000. Over 11 lakhs in Bangladeshi currency!

An unknown person left the glasses wrapped in an envelope in the letter box of the Bristol auction house in southwest England. Company official Andy Stowe said, 'We were shocked to learn how much the glasses could cost.'
The price of these glasses has already gone up to 6 thousand pounds online. The auction will take place on August 21 at the East Bristol Auction Center in Hanham, South West England.
It is known that these glasses of Mahatma Gandhi were in the custody of an elderly person in England. The man was told by his father that the glasses were given to him by an uncle. He worked for British Petroleum in South Africa from 1910 to 1930. The glasses were gifted to him by Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
Stowe states that the two stems of the glasses are gold, both glasses are joined by gold leaf. It is believed that Mahatma Gandhi gave the glasses as a gift to the old man's paternal uncle while working for British Petroleum.
It is said that Gandhiji often gifted his used items to acquaintances. These glasses can be like that too.
