Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that 5,000 people have died in the month-long war.
According to analysts, as countries like the United States, Russia and Turkey get involved in this fight, the possibility of the third world war is gradually increasing.
Armenia and Azerbaijan started fighting over the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region occupied by Armenians from last September 27 amid Corona. Although there were two cease-fires in the Russian priesthood, they were short-lived.
Therefore, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo held a separate meeting with the foreign ministers of the two countries in Washington last Friday to restore peace in the Caucasus. Supporters of Azerbaijan and Armenia protested in front of the US State Department during the meeting.
It is known that Pompeo first met Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jehun Bayramov. The meeting lasted for about 40 minutes. Although there was talk of stopping the war, the discussion between the two remained unclear.
After that, the US Secretary of State met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Zahrab Natsakanayan. However, neither side is willing to back down from their position.
Because of this, there is no hope for peace. Previously, the French President discussed the war and the overall situation with the President of Armenia on Thursday.
It should be noted that the world is divided in this fight in the Caucasus region. Azerbaijan is supported by Türkiye, Pakistan, Afghanistan and many countries of the Muslim world. On the other hand, several European countries, including France, are in favor of Armenia.
America and Russia are already involved in this conflict for their own interests. That is why international defense experts believe that if the fire of war is not extinguished soon, the fire of world war may spread.
