It has emerged as one that this year he has donated 7 thousand 904 crore Indian rupees! This amount of donation is 22 million rupees per day! Bangladeshi currency which stands at more than 25 million rupees!
This information was given in a report of NDTV on Wednesday. According to the 'Edelgive Heuran India Philanthropy List 2020', 75-year-old Danveer Azim Premji has topped the list. India's Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest man, is on third place in this list.
Azim Premji Foundation, Wipro and Wipro Enterprises pledged a donation of Rs 1,125 crore on April 1 to combat Covid-19, according to Edelgive Huron India. Out of this, Azim Premji Foundation's amount is Rs.1000 crore, Wipro's amount is Rs.100 crore and Wipro Enterprise's amount is Rs.25 crore. This also includes Wipro's Annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Azim Premji Foundation's regular philanthropic donations.
Azim Premji's son Rishad Premji wrote in a tweet that, 'My father always believed that he never owns his wealth. He is basically just a caretaker of these resources.' Rishad also writes that, 'The society in which we live and work is also an integral part of this Wipro.'
Last year, Azim Premji addressed the graduating class of Gujarat Vidyapeeth. There he also told the story of his motivation for social service work. He said that two people are very much behind his social service work. First, of his mother and secondly, of Mahatma Gandhi.
According to the Edelgive Huron India Philanthropy List 2020, Shiv Nadar, the founder chairman of HCL Technologies, is at the second position in terms of philanthropy in India. His family's donation to social services is Rs 795 crore. On the other hand, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani and his family donated Rs 458 crore.
Kumar Mangalam Birla is fourth in this list. His donation this year is Rs 276 crore. And the fifth place is Anil Agarwal, the founder and chairman of Vedanta Sansthan. Anil Agarwal and his family donated Rs.215 crores. Piramal Group chairman Ajay Piramal and his family, ranked sixth, contributed Rs 196 crore. Bajaj Group chairman Rahul Bajaj and his family, who are at the tenth position in the list, have donated Rs 74 crore.
