However, the record set by King Maule Ismail has yet to be broken. This ruler Maule Ismail was the father of thousands of children.
Moulay Ismail was born in Sijilmassa, Morocco in 1645 AD. He was the second ruler of the Alawite dynasty. This dynasty still rules Morocco. Moulay Ismail was the seventh of 15 brothers. He was also the governor of the Kingdom of Fez in Morocco from 1667 to 1672. Then on the death of his step-brother he became the ruler.
Maule Ismail was a very ruthless ruler. His reign began with the display of 400 rebel heads on the walls of Fez. He fought against his nephew before being proclaimed Sultan of Fez in 1630. The dynasty ruled Morocco for just 55 years before Moulay Ismail ascended the throne. History has labeled this sultan as a bloodthirsty.
As if the intoxication of blood was haunting him all the time. Killing people was like a game to him. Maule Ismail's reign was also a highlight of royal history. No king before or after him had such a long reign. Prior to his assumption of power, Moroccan monarchies relied largely on tribes to supply male rulers. However, this idea ended during the reign of Maul.
Moulay Ismail established the Black Guard force to demarcate his territory. where there was an army of entirely black slaves. which is known as Abid Al Bukhari or Slave of Bukhari. With this army he used to sneeze all his wishes. This fleet steadily supplied the sultan with Christian arms and slaves by raiding all the way from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea.
The Kingdom of Morocco established important diplomatic relations during Ismail's reign, particularly with the Kingdom of France, Great Britain and Spain. Europeans nicknamed him the "Bloody Blue King" or "Blood Thirsty" for his cruelty and ruthlessness. He was also better known as the "Warrior King" in Morocco.
Despite having so many controversial issues, his name appeared in history and even later in the Guinness Book of World Records! Moulay Ismail fathered 888 children, the highest number of fathers in recorded history.
According to one report, the French diplomat Dominique Bousnot, who often traveled to Morocco, said that the Sultan actually had 4 wives and 500 concubines. Who had a total of 111 children. At the time of that report, Moulay Ismail was 57 years old and had reigned for 32 years. However, according to various documents and historians, his number of children was 888. Most of whose children were illegitimate. The exact number of his concubines is also not available. But it is believed that there were more than a thousand.
According to simulations created by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Vienna, the sultan needed an average of 0.83 to 1.43 times of intercourse per day to breed. According to researchers, he had 65 to 110 females in his harem to do this. The rest were women brought in after the war. Most worked as slaves in his harem and throughout Morocco.
But one thing is that no matter how brutal he was, peace returned to Morocco during his tenure. His reign is still considered a golden age! Security and order were maintained during that period. He unified the country and expanded it considerably. He built various styles of architecture around the kingdom.
