The ancestral house of Gana Jagaran poet Sukanta Bhattacharya is located in Unshiya village of Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj district. This revolutionary young poet Sukanta Bhattacharya possessed the progressive spirit of Bengali literature. Poet Sukanta Bhattacharya was born on August 15, 1926 in Mahim Haldar Street, Kolkata.

His father Nibaran Bhattacharya was working in the postal department of Madaripur. In 1946, poet Sukanta Bhattacharya's father left his job and moved to Kolkata, leaving the house empty. Later, Deven Bhattacharya, the last male of the clan, was the father of Sukanta and tried to keep the house left by his father for a few days, but it was occupied by illegal occupants. At one point, on the instructions of the Gopalganj District Commissioner, the responsibility of preserving the house was taken locally. In 2010, Kavi Sukanta Public Library-cum-Auditorium was constructed by renovating the ancestral house of poet Sukanta Bhattacharya, a tradition of nearly 500 years.

There are different books written by the poet on different shelves of the library, seating area for readers and portraits of the poet painted in water colors. Poet Sukanta Bhattacharya's ancestral house and library has become one of the most attractive tourist spots for literature lovers, due to which many people come here every day and take a tour of the poet's house.

By road, Gopalganj can be reached by Palash, Imad, Golden Line, Tungipara Express, Greenline, Comfort, Rajdhani and BRTC buses from Gabtali and Sayedabad in the capital Dhaka. After going to Gopalganj, take a local bus to Kotalipara upazila and take another local vehicle to reach the ancestral home of poet Sukanta Bhattacharya, which is 12 km away.
