The bag left by the thief contained more than 17,000 corona virus vaccines. In the letter, the thief wrote that he did not know that the vaccine was inside the bag at the time of the theft. The stolen bag contained CoviShield and Covaxin vaccines approved in India.
Returning doses of Covishield and Covaxin, the thief wrote in Hindi, 'Sorry, I didn't know it contained the Corona vaccine.'
The bag was lost from the store room at Jinder General Hospital. On April 22 at noon, the hospital staff received a letter along with it.
Currently, the local police is trying to identify the thief. A case has also been registered in this incident.
According to NDTV, a person handed over the bag to a person at a tea shop outside the Civil Lines police station around noon. The thief fled immediately after handing over the bag to the man delivering the food to the police station.
The police suspect that the thief may have escaped with those doses of the vaccine thinking that it was the corona drug Remdesivir.
It should be noted that India is going to start vaccinating all citizens above the age of 18 from May 1. Registration of these age groups will start from April 28. The registration process and required documents will remain the same as before.
