According to a Hindustan Times report, although Saudi Arabia is a predominantly Muslim country, a significant number of Indians live there. The relationship between the Indian community and the Saudi government is also very good. Especially Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is also fond of Indian culture.
The current Saudi administration has emphasized learning the history and culture of other countries to advance the education sector in Saudi Arabia. Especially Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman wants to be more ahead in this direction. His new initiative is named 'Vision 2030'. For that purpose Mahabharata-Ramayana has been included in the syllabus of Saudi Arabia.
According to Saudi Arabian government sources, by reading Ramayana and Mahabharata, the students there will also gain knowledge about the traditions of Indian culture. Apart from Indian culture, the Saudi government is also ensuring that the students get adequate knowledge about Ayurveda and Yoga. That is why they have been gradually brought under the school curriculum.
Although English education was not previously compulsory in Saudi Arabia, it has been made so in the new syllabus. It is believed that this plan will bring about a radical change in the outlook of the education system in Saudi Arabia. A Saudi resident recently shared a screenshot of his son's syllabus on Twitter. He wrote that, 'Saudi Arabia's new Vision 2030 will contribute to creating a liberal and tolerant people.'
