It is known that a malware called Flubot is spreading rapidly online. Basically the real target of this malware is Android based smartphones. The malware is created only to steal users' online banking account IDs and passwords. Not only that, other bank account information and phone numbers are also being stolen through this malware.
It is known that cyber criminals are using the SMS medium to release the malware. SMS is first sent to target users mobile. If you look at these SMS, it seems that the order information of an e-commerce site has been sent. A link is provided in this SMS, you are asked to click on this link to know the order or delivery information.
Whenever one clicks on this link after falling into this fraud trap, the fake app file (Android package file or APK) containing malware stored on the criminals' server is then installed on the user's smartphone. Then the data theft process begins.
According to the complaints of the victims, they received fake delivery SMS from DHL, Asda, Amazon, Argos on their mobile phones. While clicking on the link of those SMS, they became a victim of cyber fraud.
The US National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) has also released a guideline with this issue in mind. There are also ideas on how to detect this malware on smartphones and remove it.
Some mobile and network operators, including Vodafone and Three, have also warned customers by sending messages about this. So that they don't click any link unnecessarily and stay away from this danger.
