According to Shari'ah, how should the sacrificial animal be?

A virtuous act of worship is sacrifice. This is a very significant period. Sacrifice also involves a great sacrifice of one's love. From the point of view of Islamic Shari'ah, it is obligatory on those who can afford it. If one does not perform Qurbani despite being able to, it will be a sin on them.

What should be the animal worthy of sacrifice?

There are 6 types of animals eligible for sacrifice. These 6 types of animals are - cow, buffalo, camel, dumba, goat and sheep. Sacrifice with these animals is permissible. All animals other than these animals are impermissible for sacrifice. Goats, sheep and lambs must be at least one year old for sacrifice. But if a 6-month-old sheep is plump and looks like a year old, then it is permissible to sacrifice it. In case of cow-buffalo it should be full 2 years. In case of camel it must be 5 years. How many people can sacrifice an animal together?

In the case of goats, sheep and goats, one animal can be sacrificed only by one person. There is no provision for sharing these animal sacrifices with partners. Therefore, more than one person cannot participate in these animal sacrifices. Also, maximum 7 people can participate in cow, buffalo and camel sacrifice.

Hazrat Muhammad (pbuh) has said about camel and cow-buffalo in the hadith that 7 people can be partners in one camel and cow-buffalo for sacrifice. (Muslim- Hadith: 1318)

If there is a problem, animal sacrifice cannot be done

The sacrificial animal must be without blemish. If the animal has any problem or defect then it cannot be sacrificed. These are highlighted:

For example, the animal does not have sight, the animal does not have hearing, the animal is very weak and worn out, so lame that it cannot even walk to the place of slaughter, most of the tail is cut off, the animal does not have ears by birth, most of the ears are cut off. Dehorning of the animal along with its roots, absence of most of the teeth, drying up of breast milk due to any disease, any two cuts of goat milk and any two of the four milks of cow-buffalo.

From this it is clear that the sacrificial animal must be free from major problems or defects. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) said in the hadith that the sacrifice of four types of animals will never be permissible.
1. Blind - whose blindness is quite obvious
2. Diseased - whose disease is also evident
3. Crippled - whose lameness is quite obvious
4. Injured - Injured who has a broken limb. (Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3144)

Sacrifice can be offered despite any kind of problem or defect

Sacrifice is permissible even if the animal has some defect. The animal is crazy but it eats grass and water properly, the tail or part of the ear is amputated (most of the parts are present), no horns at birth, there are horns but broken, small ears, one leg of the animal is broken but it can walk with the remaining three legs. Skin diseases on animals, some teeth missing but most teeth present, one testicle by nature, animals unable to give birth due to age, unable to mate due to amputated penis. Things to do to prevent Corona virus
