After being offline for about 6 hours, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp restarted. Facebook, the company that owns App 3, has explained why this outage of the service happened. American media ABC News also reported on this.
"We express our deepest condolences to the vast community and businesses that rely on us around the world," the statement on the engineering page of Facebook's website reads. We are also working hard to get all our apps and services back up and running. We are happy to announce that our apps and services are back online. Thank you for being with us.'
Explaining the service outage, Facebook said, "Our engineering team has already learned that the configuration of the powerful routers that coordinate network traffic between our data centers has been changed." Because of this reluctance there have been some cases of communication breakdown. Communication between data centers is blocked. Because of that our services are disrupted.'
Although there are many talks on the Internet about the closure of Facebook and other media, the social media has claimed that there is no evidence that any user information has been leaked from Facebook.
"Our services are currently online and we are working hard to get everything back up and running," Facebook said. At this point we would like to clarify that we believe this is due to an erroneous configuration change. We have no evidence of user data being compromised during this offline period.'
Notably, when the offline incident first occurred on Monday afternoon local time in the United States (night in Bangladesh), a Facebook spokesperson told ABC News that, 'we are having trouble accessing our apps and products. We know that too. We are trying to get back to normal as soon as possible. We apologize to everyone for the inconvenience.'
