The Dhaka Times Desk Bangladesh has declared a day of national mourning today (Saturday) over the death of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Cabinet Department on Friday (July 8). On this occasion, the national flag will be kept at half-mast in all government, semi-government and autonomous institutions and educational institutions of Bangladesh and all government and private buildings and foreign missions on Saturday.
On Friday, the cabinet department also said in a notification that Japan is a true friend of Bangladesh. Apart from mourning the death of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, special prayers will also be organized for the peace of the departed soul.
Shinzo Abe died on Friday (July 8) after being seriously wounded by a gunman while giving a speech in the western Japanese city of Nara and was rushed to hospital. Shinzo Abe, 67, was shot from behind.
Police have already arrested a 40-year-old man in this incident. His gun was confiscated.
Note that Abe served as the Prime Minister of Japan for two terms. He served as the Prime Minister of the country for the longest time. He resigned in 2020 due to ill health.
