10 years after the assassination of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the murder. In a book written by Taliban leader Abu Mansoor Asim Mufti Noor Wali, the organization admitted its involvement in Benazir's murder.
The book titled “Inqilab Mehsud South Waziristan-From British Raj to American Imperialism” written by Taliban leader Abu Mansoor was published on November 30 last year. This book is published from Paktika province of Afghanistan. It was in this book that the Taliban admitted their involvement in Benazir's murder for the first time.
In the book, the Taliban leader said two men, Bilal alias Saeed and Ikramullah, were sent on a "suicide" mission to kill Benazir. Bilal first shot Benazir with the pistol he was carrying. Benazir Bhutto was shot in the neck. Later Bilal forgot the bomb vest attached to his body”.
However, Ikramullah is still alive because he did not detonate his bomb jacket later. The 588-page book was released online last Sunday. In this book it is also reported that then Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud led the entire assassination plan.
On the other hand, the bombing of another procession of Benazir Bhutto in October 2007 is also admitted in this book. At least 140 Pakistani citizens were killed by two suicide bombers in that march in Karachi. But Benazir Bhutto survived with his life of service.
It is known that this book, which has caused a stir, has also revealed the weakness of the Pakistani security forces in Bhutto's murder. The book states that, "After the attack on Bhutto in Karachi, the Pakistani security forces failed to provide adequate security for Benazir's procession in Rawalpindi. Because of which those attackers can get very close to Benazir Bhutto”.
According to the news of Hindustan Times, after the murder of Benazir on December 27, 2007, the administration of Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf blamed Tehreek-e-Taliban for it. But till now the organization was silent on this issue.
