The Dhaka Times Desk Vratt Arts Trust and Tara Theater have organized an exhibition titled 'Artists Make Space' with paintings by 14 artists from Bangladesh and the UK in collaboration with the British Council.
The exhibition showcases the paintings of 7 Bangladesh-based and 7 UK-based artists, reflecting their long-standing collective thoughts and creating new works of art. This project was undertaken to celebrate 70 years of British Council in Bangladesh. The purpose of the exhibition is to create a safe space for people to express their opinions and identities through artistic engagement.
Among the artists participating in this exhibition are Mridul Kanti Goswami, Manon Muntaka, Emdadul Haque Tapu, Rakibul Anwar, Azizi Faomi Khan, Hridita Anisha and Apoorba Jahangir and those from the UK are - Ruby Kitching, Tahmina Begum, Rupinder Kaur, Tia Ali, Rehemur Rahman, Abby Lewis and Kamilah Ahmed.
After successful exhibitions in London, Birmingham and Manchester, United Kingdom in collaboration with Tara Theatre, two more exhibitions were held in collaboration with Vrat Arts Trust at Rashid Chowdhury Art Gallery, Institute of Fine Arts, Chittagong University and Kabi Nazrul Auditorium, Sylhet last November.
Later this exhibition was organized in Dhaka. The exhibition started on December 7 at the British Council in Dhaka. Author Mahmudul Hossain and British Council Bangladesh Programs Director David Knox were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
The exhibition is curated by Mahbubur Rahman of Vrat Arts Trust and Natasha Kathi Chandra of Tara Theatre. The exhibition will be open for visitors till December 13 at the British Council located on Fuller Road in the capital Dhaka from 11 am to 5 pm and at the Circle Arts Trust located on Green Road in Dhaka from 3 pm to 8 pm.
