The Dhaka Times Desk The winners of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2022-23 have been announced at a function organized by the British Council Bangladesh.
The event took place on March 13 at the British Council office premises on Fuller Road. Alumni members of UK universities are honored at the event as businessmen, professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders. The award recognizes alumni of UK universities who have achieved outstanding achievements in their respective fields and have contributed to strengthening the relationship between the UK and Bangladesh. Government representatives and UK Alumni members were present on the occasion.
The award's judging panel selected the winners in 4 categories; The categories are: Science and Sustainability Award, Culture and Creativity Award, Social Action Award and Business and Innovation Award. In its ninth year, alumni from over 120 UK universities from around 100 countries applied for the award.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dickson said, “I am delighted to be a part of this year's Study UK Alumni Awards. We are very proud of our alumni who, through their education, have gone on to achieve leadership in various fields, contribute to social change and shape the lives of people around them. The UK and Bangladesh have a strong relationship. We consider alumni of UK universities to be representative of both countries and the connections between the people of the two countries are testament to this. My congratulations to all the finalists and winners.”
British Council Bangladesh Country Director Tom Missa said, “This award recognizes those who have achieved exceptional success after pursuing higher education at a UK university and have made a positive contribution to the development of the country in the fields of science, business, civil society and culture. Congratulations to the 4 finalists and a big thank you to all the alumni who participated in the awards.”
University of Warwick alumni Arik Anam Khan received the Culture and Creativity Award. He is the co-founder and executive producer of Forecast Films.
University of East London alumni Kazi Hasan Robin received the Social Action Award. He is an academician, researcher and writer. He received the Youth Excellence Award at the Youth Leadership Carnival 2019.
Former student of the University of Birmingham. Samiul Mahmood received the Business and Innovation Award. He has served as Senior Consultant on Finance Reforms to the Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
Science and Sustainability Award received by Dr. Shakib Amin He studied at two universities in the UK, namely: University of Essex and University of Durham. He is Associate Professor of Economics at North South University. News bulletins.
