The Dhaka Times Desk The G-7 alliance has called on China to put pressure on Moscow, Beijing's strategic ally, to end the war in Ukraine. This call was made in a joint statement yesterday (Saturday).
In a joint statement, praising China's talks with Zelensky as a mediation step in the Ukraine war, the G-7 members said, "We call on China to put pressure on Russia to immediately and unconditionally withdraw all troops by stopping its aggression in Ukraine." We also encourage China to support territorial integrity and UN policies. However, the G7 leaders expressed 'deep concern' over the tensions that have arisen over the South China Sea and Taiwan issues. They called for a 'peaceful solution' to Taiwan. - Al Jazeera news.
Basically, G-7 is an alliance of 7 countries with the world's most powerful economies. The member states of the alliance are – USA, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Canada and Italy. However, the European Union sends a representative to the conference even if it is not a member. But recently the alliance has invited various countries to participate. Leaders of 8 additional countries including Ukraine have joined this conference as invited guests.
