The mosque you see is the historic Shahsultan Ghazi Mosque in Mir Bagan, Gaibandhar. This oldest mosque is located at Dariyapur in the present Gaibandha district.
According to the information obtained from the stone inscriptions of the mosque, a religious figure named Syed Wazed Ali discovered and renovated this mosque in 1308. Later, the name of a religious warrior named Shah Sultan became associated with it. This mosque is known by his name. Moreover, Shah Sultan Gazi's shrine is also located next to this mosque.
