Myanmar's Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, who was sentenced to 33 years in prison on multiple charges including corruption and election fraud, has appealed to reduce that sentence.
The country's highest court is hearing those appeals. A source related to the related case informed this news that his last hearing was held on Wednesday.
In 2021, Myanmar's military also arrested Suu Kyi, the country's leader, after the country's elected government was ousted in a coup. Then a case was filed against him on numerous charges of vote fraud, corruption, incitement to illegal activities.
But Suu Kyi, 78, was not present at Wednesday's appeal hearing. Lawyers for him have argued against the sentence in the state secrets law violation and election fraud cases. The Supreme Court is also expected to rule on the appeal within the next two months.
