On February 9, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank visited the progress of the project being implemented by the Rural Development Academy, Bogra Char Development Research Center (CDRC) funded by UCB in East Harinchara of Lalmonirhat. Senior officials of UCB were present this time. While visiting the project as the chief guest, the Deputy Governor inaugurated the new solar irrigation pump and rest camp for the farmers in the project area.
United Commercial Bank (UCB) PLC launched the 'New Window of Trust' initiative early last year with the aim of ensuring food security and improved nutrition in the country as well as playing an active role in promoting climate-tolerant sustainable agriculture. The company has taken this initiative as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as per the instructions of Bangladesh Bank.
During the field visit, the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Abu Farah, had an exchange meeting with the local beneficiary farmers. Nacher said, "Agricultural production system in a sustainable way will play an important role in preserving the environment as well as contributing significantly in ensuring food security. Farmers are now growing wheat and corn in the tobacco-dominant region. It is a very positive thing. As our farmers are benefiting in many ways through this initiative taken by United Commercial Bank PLC, this initiative is also contributing to the formation of self-reliant Bangladesh through the development of agriculture sector. UCB is setting an example for others in bringing the private sector forward in the growth of the agricultural sector in the country. I applaud their initiative.”
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Md. Anwarul Islam, UCB Managing Director and CEO Arif Qadri, Additional Managing Director ATM Tahmiduzzaman, RDA Joint Director Dr. Abdul Majeed Pramanik, host of Bangladesh Television's Mati and Manhoob program and agriculture data analyst Rezaul Karim Siddique along with senior officials of UCB and RDA.
Under this project jointly implemented by UCB and RDA, the farmers started wheat production on 100 acres of land in this area dominated by tobacco cultivation. The implementation of this project was started with the objective of providing support for production-related materials including fertilizers and irrigation to the farmers families who are at risk of climate in the northern part of the country through the wheat and corn production program, discouraging the farmers from tobacco cultivation and providing them with technical training and improving the quality of life of the family members.
Note that apart from Lalmonirhat, UCB is implementing this project in Rangpur and Gaibandha. The project provides training and booklets along with essential agricultural implements including seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, drying mats and threshing machines. According to the preliminary estimates of this project, due to the implementation of this program, more than four hundred metric tons of wheat and about two hundred and fifty metric tons of maize will be produced, through which the farmers of the region will get a potential income of Tk 2 crore 75 lakh.

How to prevent dengue
Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral fever. This fever is different from other viral or bacterial fevers. However, this fever is not contagious in any way. This viral fever can occur alone or in combination with other viruses (chikungunya, yellow fever, Burma forest, flu, respiratory syncytial) and bacteria (pneumococcus).
Dengue fever is divided into two categories depending on the severity of symptoms and fever.
1. Common dengue fever
2. Dengue fever with bleeding.
In the case of common dengue fever, the following symptoms are mainly seen-
1. Sudden high fever lasting 2 to 7 days.
2. Severe headache.
3. Pain behind the eyes.
4. Along with the fever, red rash appears all over the body.
5. Severe pain in whole body as well as back pain.
6. Nausea or vomiting.
7. A rash or red bumps on the skin.
In case of dengue fever with bleeding:
1. Bleeding from nose, mouth or vomiting with high fever within 2 to 48 hours.
2. Fluid accumulation in chest or abdomen along with fever.
If any of these symptoms appear, seek medical attention immediately.
On the other hand
Wait at home for the first 3 days of fever. On the other hand, sponge the whole body with water every now and then. This will reduce the level of fever. Drink enough water and rest. After that, if the fever does not decrease or if it continues to increase after some time, consult a doctor immediately.
Things to do to prevent Dengue:
1. Try to keep the surroundings of the house as clean as possible.
2. If there are flower tubs or broken plastic bottles, can shells, tires or polythene inside the house, clean them quickly and drain the accumulated water from the flower tubs.
3. Spray or fog at least 3 times a week to kill mosquitoes.
4. You can keep mosquito repellent cream with you while going out.
5. After evening, younger and older members of the household should use mosquito nets.
6. Clean up any accumulated rain water, as this is the time when Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs.
7. On the other hand, you can use mats along with mosquito nets to avoid mosquito infestation.
8. Since Aedes mosquitoes bite during the day, it is important to avoid sleeping with mosquito nets while sleeping during the day. Source: https://dmpnews.org
