The Dhaka Times Desk A gunman opened fire on the compound of America's famous Los Angeles (LAX) airport on Friday, killing one person and causing massive casualties.
The gunman caused immediate panic at the airport that handles the world's major commercial flights and forced the airport to shut down for about 1 hour. This forced the authorities to cancel several commercial flights and delay some flights.
An airport security officer was killed and 6 others were injured in the firing, including 3 passengers and 3 airport staff.
Los Angeles County Police officials identified the gunman as 23-year-old Anthony Ciancia. He is currently being treated at a hospital in police custody and authorities believe Anthony Ciancia acted alone.
Police sources said Anthony Ciancia opened fire at the airport to kill people, using an assault rifle. What was the main motive behind his killing sacrifice is not yet confirmed, but the investigation agency believes that it is an expression of anti-government views.
