Today is the sixth day of nationwide blockade. On the other hand, BNP's strike on Sunday and Monday and Jamaat-e-Islami's strike on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. BNP went on strike to protest the arrest of BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khokar. Again, Jamaat-e-Islami has called for this hartal to protest the death warrant of Quader Molla and the attempt to execute the death sentence. In such a situation, widespread violence took place across the country yesterday. And the only way to resolve all these crises is discussion. Solving the crisis through discussion has become urgent today.
There was widespread violence across the country yesterday. Jamaat camp attacked the police at different places. The leaders and workers of 18 parties including BNP blocked the road. Picketing, car vandalism, arson, demolition of culverts and even several bank branches were torched yesterday. Meanwhile, Rupali Bank officer Masuma, who was injured in the bus fire incident in Shahbagh, died yesterday. He was under treatment in a private hospital. On the other hand, at least 3 people died in yesterday's violence.
Discussions are going on with the government regarding the election of the opposition party. However, there are still doubts about how fruitful those talks will be. Because UN Assistant Secretary General Oscar Fernández Taranco has put the two parties in discussion for the last 5 days, but no result has come yet. However, he expressed optimism at a press conference before leaving Bangladesh yesterday. He expressed such optimism and said that the discussion has started, I hope a solution will come out.
But the people of the country could not be happy with this statement of Taranko. Because the people of the country are aware of the attitude of the leaders of Awami League and BNP. And so the public is worried about whether there will actually be any solution in that discussion or not. Be that as it may, resolving the political deadlock through negotiations has become imperative today. At least all 16 crore people of the country think so.
