The Dhaka Times Desk Tuesday is the last day of the 83-hour blockade of the 18-party alliance led by the BNP. Even today, some sporadic incidents have occurred in different parts of the country. The total blockade will be 501 hours from November 26 in 5 phases.
The 18-party alliance announced road, sea and railway blockade demanding the cancellation of the schedule announced by the election and election commission under the non-party government. This is the fifth phase of the blockade program of the 18 parties. This blockade started from 6 am last Saturday. It will continue till 5 pm on Tuesday.
Like the last three days, many rickshaws, autorickshaws, minibuses are plying in the capital today. In Chittagong today Tuesday, a truck loaded with Guru set fire to 6 furniture shops. When they tried to picket in Narayanganj, the besiegers were chased by the police. Two and a half thousand cars were vandalized.
Meanwhile, the joint forces conducted an operation in Joypurhat last night. From there, the joint forces arrested 18 people from 18 party alliances.
Meanwhile, two policemen were injured in a cocktail attack in the capital's Uttara on Monday night. They are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mozaffar Ali and Constable Asadan of Uttara East Police Station. According to media sources, the incident took place on Jaseem Uddin Road in Uttara Paschim Police Station area. The two were injured when a few youths attacked the police with cocktails. They were treated at a local hospital. Police have arrested 2 people named Sarwar and Ratan in this incident.
It is to be noted that the 18-party alliance led by BNP has been carrying out a blockade program since November 26 demanding the postponement of the schedule of the 10th National Assembly elections and elections under a non-partisan government. If today's 5th blockade ends, the opposition party will be under siege for a total of 501 hours. Earlier, they blocked 4 points. In the first phase, 71 hours from 26 to 28 November, 131 hours in the second phase from 30 November to 5 December, 144 hours from 7 to 12 December in the third phase and 72 hours from 17 to 19 December.
