Dhaka Times Desk There have been reports of rising flood waters in different parts of the country. Correspondents said that various areas including Sirajganj, Kurigram, Sunamganj and Sylhet's Jakiganj, Kanighat, Jaintapur, Companyganj have been flooded again.

According to the news, floods have occurred again in different places due to torrential rains and landslides coming down from upstream. Hundreds of thousands of people are stuck in water. And because of this rise in water, river erosion has started. Aman seedbeds and plantations of saplings and woven aman crops have been submerged.

Sirajganj

After a break of a few days, as the water of Yamuna river started rising again at Sirajganj point, extensive erosion has started upstream and downstream of Sirajganj. According to sources of Water Development Board, the water level of Yamuna has increased by 6 cm at Sirajganj point in 24 hours. Between the rise and fall of water, the river erosion has intensified in the area of Bilchatal, Majnabari, Shubogacha, Natuarpara, Maizbari, Shimla of Sirajganj Sadar upazila and Chauhali upazila in the upstream of Sirajganj city and about 14 km in Kazipur upazila. During the day, at least two square kilometers of arable land including 30 meters of Shimla No. 1 solidspar and hundreds of homesteads were swept under the river. Vast townships of Patrail-Hatail and Chowbari areas from Boalkandi in Bhati Chauhali upazila have been submerged under the river.

Kurigram

Due to incessant rains and hill slopes, the water level of 16 rivers including Dharla, Brahmaputra, Dudhkumore in Kurigram district continues to rise. But the water of Teesta river has decreased. Due to rise in water, new floods have occurred in the district. Heavy rain on Sunday morning caused waterlogging in Kurigram city. Hospitalpara, Roumaripara, Hatir para, the road in front of the stadium was submerged in knee-deep water. As a result, the suffering of the common people increased to the extreme. The Deputy Commissioner said that for the fear of another flood and for the emergency assistance of the victims of the previous flood, a new demand of Tk 2 million, 1 thousand metric tons of rice, 5 thousand pieces of lungi and 5 thousand pieces of sarees has been sent.

Tahirpur (Sunamganj)

In Sunamganj's Tahirpur Upazila, about 50 thousand people of more than 100 villages of the border and Bhati areas have been trapped in the water due to two days of heavy rains and landslides. Most of the village people of the seven unions of the upazila are now in water-locked condition. As continuous rains continued, river erosion occurred in several areas including Baratek, Gadkati, Sohala, Anwarpur village and Bazar on the banks of the river Jadukata on the border of the upazila. Badaghat Sohala, Sohala Fazilpur-Anowarpur road submerged in water. The road from Chanpur on the border to Barachra customs station has been completely broken due to rising water.

Fatikchari

About 1 lakh families in 18 unions and municipalities of Fatikchari Upazila of Chittagong have been water-tight. Upazila road communication with Chittagong city has been severed. As a result, there is a shortage of clean water and food among six and a half lakh people in the upazila. No relief materials have reached the people of Ban until Sunday.

Two days of continuous rain and landslides from the other side have caused flooding in Chagalnaia of Feni. Low areas including seed beds, fish enclosures have been flooded. The city's Thanapara road has sunk due to lack of drainage system. Traffic has stopped. Residents of that area have suffered greatly. Chhagalnaya Academy campus submerged in water. As the water level of Muhuri river is rising, the lower areas of almost all the villages of the upazila are getting submerged.

Dimla (Nilphamari)

The Teesta river is flowing 35 cm above the danger level on Sunday from the Do-Mohini point in India. At 7 pm on Sunday, Dalia Point of Teesta Barrage is flowing 15 cm above the danger level. 44 sluice gates of Teesta Barrage, the country's largest irrigation project, have been opened. Teesta River has turned into two channels near Teesta Barrage due to high tide. Apart from the main channel Kaliganj zero point, Teesta enters a new channel through Charkharibari in Tepakhribari. Besides, the hard point of the dam is at risk as the river flows around the left and right bank dams.

Sylhet

In Sylhet, there has been a threat of flooding again after three days of landslides and continuous rains. Already 8 unions of Goainghat have been flooded. As a result, nearly half a million people have been trapped in water. Apart from this, lower areas of Jokiganj, Kanighat, Jaintapur, Companyganj upazilas have been flooded. Jaflong, Bichnakandi and Bholaganj stone quarries have been closed. Thousands of stone workers have become unemployed. Goainghat representative said that after 15 days after the recent flood in the upazila, there was another flood due to landslides. Recently, before the flood-affected families were rehabilitated, the flood-affected victims again suffered greatly. 80 percent of the people of the upazila have not yet recovered from the flood damage. Aman seedbeds and saplings and woven aman cropland are submerged.
