The Dhaka Times Desk A youth party worker named Jahangir Alam (26) and an extremist leader were killed in a gunfight in Khulna in an attack by opponents on Monday night in Ishwardi due to an eastern dispute.
Our Ishwardi representative said that a youth worker named Jahangir was killed in the attack of the opponent. Ishwardi upazila volunteer party leader Jewel Hossain Jahangir's house is in Ambagan area adjacent to city market. He was a youth worker. Jahangir and three others were injured when the terrorists launched an ambush. Others involved in the attack were Aman Ullah alias Buru (38), Nayan Hossain (30) and Suman (30).
According to the police and local sources, due to a previous dispute, the opposing terrorists vandalized the shops of Nayan, Sumon, Pavel and Arambagh residential hotel located in the College Road area of Ishwardi Town Sadar around 8 pm. When they tried to stop them, the terrorists beat and stabbed them and ran away. Later, 4 people were admitted to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex with serious injuries. Later, the doctor on duty shifted Aman Ullah alias Buru and Jahangir to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as the condition worsened. Jahangir Alam died on the way to Rajshahi around 10 pm.
According to news media sources, in another incident, Touhidul Islam Sabuj (29), second in command of Shimul Bhuiyan, head of the banned extremist party East Bengal Communist Party (ML) in Khulna, was killed in a 'gunfight' with the police. Sabuj was a terrorist listed by the police.
A 'gunfight' with terrorists took place on the bank of Chatiantala Dighi in Fultala upazila of Khulna district yesterday on Monday at 3:30 am. Police said that 1 gun, 1 pistol, 15 rounds of gun bullets, 4 rounds of rifle bullets, 6 bombs and 2 ramadas were recovered from the spot.
