The Dhaka Times Desk The police arrested the wife of Sohail, the mastermind behind the sensational bank robbery incident in Kishoreganj. Another two and a half lakh rupees were recovered from him.
Police have arrested Mahila, wife of principal Yusuf Munshi alias Habib alias Sohail, in connection with the robbery of Sonali Bank in Kishoreganj. Another two and a half lakh taka was recovered from him after he was arrested from Dhaka. The police said that raids will be conducted on him at different places.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj Sadar Model Police Station, Abdul Malek, the investigating officer of the case, told the media that according to the information given by Sohail during the remand interrogation, a police team led by him went to Dhaka yesterday. Yesterday afternoon, the police raided Noor Molla's house in the Kadmatoli area of Shyampur, Dhaka, adjacent to Madina Mosque. Police recovered two and a half lakh rupees from a bag in the locked room. He said that later the wife was arrested from Jatrabari in Dhaka using various tactics.
OC also said that Yusuf rented Noor Molla's house in Shyampur of Dhaka for four and a half thousand taka after robbing a bank in Kishoreganj. He was staying there with money. Later RAB was able to arrest Yusuf alias Sohail and his brother Idris with Tk 16 crore 19 lakh 56 thousand 64. On the other hand, the police also arrested MLSS Abu Bakar Siddique of Sonali Bank Nikli branch on suspicion of involvement in the incident.
Meanwhile, interrogation of Sohail continues. He is giving information one by one. However, the information given by him is being verified by the police. Police claim that some progress has already been made. The police say that soon they will be able to reveal the root cause of the incident.
It is to be noted that Yusuf alias Sohail escaped with Tk 16 crore 40 lakh from Kishoreganj Sonali Bank by cutting a tunnel in movie style.
