After recently examining dino-egg fossils, a team of researchers at Yale University says that popular ideas about this extinct animal are largely wrong. According to researchers, this was actually a misconception until now. It was believed that dinosaurs had cold blood. In fact, not cold blood, but rather warm blood flowed in the body of dinosaurs.
According to Robin Dawson, the lead researcher of their study, 'We found that the ability to increase body temperature in relation to the environment through metabolism actually put the dinosaurs ahead.' For this study, Dawson researchers examined fossil eggshells from three groups of dinosaurs. the carnivore Troodon (called T-Rex's younger cousin) and the two herbivores Maiasaurus and the giant Megalulithus. Analyzing their eggshell fossils, the team concluded that there was no reason to accept the cold-blooded theory as a permanent truth. According to Dawson, 'evolutionarily, these dinosaurs lie between warm-blooded birds and cold-blooded reptiles. According to our research, all of their major groups had body temperatures significantly warmer than their surroundings.'
