The Dhaka Times Desk The mystery of stealing money by tunneling into the vault of Bogra's Adamdighi branch of Sonali Bank is yet to be revealed. Two investigation committees have been formed. Intelligence agencies are investigating.
The mystery of theft of about 32 lakhs of Sonali Bank by digging a tunnel in Bogra's Adamdighi is still not resolved. No money was recovered. After the incident, 12 people have been detained till Sunday afternoon. They are being interrogated. It is said that the bank's branch manager and cashier are also being questioned. However, to start the bank's activities, those two officials were released yesterday in the custody of senior officials. Bank authorities have formed a 5-member investigation committee in this incident. The people involved in the investigation believe that this incident happened because of the weakness and irresponsibility of the security system.
An official of the local law enforcement agency told the media that although there was supposed to be CCTV in the bank and vault, why it was not done is a mystery. The official said that the issues are being analyzed in detail.
Abdus Samad, DGM of Bogra head office, said that if money is kept in excess of the amount of money kept in the bank, the related branch manager has to bear the responsibility. After the incident, it was seen that the case was filed against the theft of Tk. The remaining 1 lakh 72 thousand 184 rupees were found scattered in the vaults and tunnels.
It should be noted that the branch of Sonali Bank is located on the ground floor of a three-storied building next to Bogra-Naogaon road in Adamdighi upazila headquarters. It was discovered on Saturday afternoon that the money had been stolen from the bank's vault. After informing the police, the police came and saw that the bank vault was broken through a tunnel from a nearby furniture store.
