The Dhaka Times Desk Incidents of bank robberies through tunnels are gradually increasing. The issues of bank management come up again and again but are happening one after the other. This time it happened in Naogaon Grameen Bank. But the thieves failed.
The miscreants cut a tunnel in the dead of night at the Grameen Bank Baragacha branch in Raninagar, Naogaon. Thieves tried to enter the bank and loot but failed due to brick powder and cement concrete casting on the floor of that branch of the bank. However, such incidents of tunneling have spread panic in the area.
Ismail Hossain, the manager of that branch, said that on Thursday night, miscreants tried to enter the bank by breaking the bricks of the back wall of the Baragacha branch building located in Kachua village of Raninagar upazila and digging a tunnel. The night guard on duty of the bank did not notice the tunnel cutting. The next day, after realizing the matter, a written report was made to the police station on the advice of the higher authorities of the bank. After the incident of tunnel cutting became known, the local residents are also scared about the security of financial and local business institutions.
It is to be noted that the same incident happened in Bogra after the bank robbery by tunneling at Sonali Bank in Kishoreganj.
