It is known that the fare is supposed to be increased by a maximum of 50%, but in some cases it has been increased up to 60-70%, the passengers have complained.
It should be noted that according to the government decision, trains will run with increased fare from October 1. In this, from September 26, advance ticket sales for October 1 began at several railway stations including Dhaka and Chittagong.
It is known that the maximum fare per ticket has been increased by 50 percent depending on the type. However, in some cases, the ticket price has been increased by 60 to 70 percent.
Roknuzzaman, Divisional Commercial Officer of Bangladesh Railway said that apart from increasing the fare, the quality of service will also be improved. He said, “Railways will aim to increase the service. As fares rise, passenger expectations will also rise. Aiming at that, we will try to ensure that the train runs on time and passengers get their tickets smoothly."
On the other hand, the opposite answer was found by talking to the passengers. They said, we are not angry that the rent has increased, but the quality of service has not increased that much. Still the train remains as it was before. Waiting for the train for hours. Then there are many other problems. Bathrooms are unusable. There is no supervision at the ticket counter. Many times many people take tickets without line but the counter man does not say anything. Thousands of such problems have been reported by passengers.
Therefore, experts believe that if the service quality is not increased along with the fare increase, the number of passengers will decrease and in that case, the idea that the government's income will increase will also be destroyed. All of them agreed that the concerned railway authorities should consider these issues.
