The Dhaka Times Desk Agora is one of the famous department stores in the capital. Agora has been fined Tk 150,000 again for selling adulterated products.

Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) was caught red-handed by Agora's fraud and this 1.5 lakh rupees was fined. Earlier this company was fined for selling formalinized mangoes. On August 21 last year, BSTI fined Agora Super Shop in Hatirpool for receiving formalinized mangoes and expired curds by a joint mobile court of BSTI and Dhaka district administration. On Sunday, the company had to pay a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh again for selling products without the approval of BSTI.

Rifles Square (now Border Square) Executive Magistrate Begum Shilu Roy led the mobile court that day fined Agora Super Shop this one and a half lakh rupees. The operation was conducted by the initiative of BSTI and Dhaka district administration and police.

It is known that this penalty was imposed for illegally using the trademark of Agora BSTI without obtaining a CM license for biscuits, soft drinks, hair oil, after shave lotion, toothpaste, curry powder, hawk ding dong wafer biscuits.
Note that the market has been flooded with adulterated products in recent times. Agora, Meena Bazar and several super malls in the capital were trusted by the people. That's why these super malls buy almost everything from daily essentials such as: fish, meat, raw rice and curries. Now due to the sale of adulterated products in these super malls, people have no way to buy pure products.
