Narayanganj City Corporation Councilor Panel Mayor Nazrul Islam along with the main accused of 7 murders Noor Hossain have been arrested by police in Kolkata.
A team of West Bengal Police Special Task Force arrested him from a house in Baguihati, near Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, around 11:30 pm local time on Saturday. Khabar Bangladesh News24.
A top officer of West Bengal Police told the media that a revolver and several rounds of bullets were found in Nur Hossain's possession during his arrest. The police officer also told the media that Nur Hossain lived in a flat on the 5th floor of a multi-storied building in that area for some days. "Locals knew he was sick and had come to Kolkata for treatment," he said. Other residents of the building and security guards told the police that Noor Hossain was staying in that building for more than a month.
The police officer told the media that Nur Hossain will be produced in the court of North 24 Parganas and remanded for questioning.
The police officials said that they have seen the picture of Noor Hossain, the face of the arrested person is similar to that picture. However, the media has been informed that the matter can be confirmed later.
It should be noted that the intelligence agency disclosed information that the main accused in the Narayanganj seven murder incident, Noor Hossain, has fled to India. That's why Interpol issued Hulia against him. Bringing him back to Bangladesh is also a challenge for the current government. The government's attitude that the law is moving at its own pace will be reflected by bringing Noor Hussain back to trial.
