Precautions to be taken regarding food and health during fasting

The Dhaka Times Desk The fasting month of Ramadan has started. When Ramadan comes, there is some change in all aspects, starting from our eating habits. And so there may be some complications with health. However, if you are aware of food and health, it is possible to avoid these problems.


First of all, we have to eat food in a new routine during Ramadan. The menu also comes with a lot of variety. Sometimes, especially at first, this new diet can have adverse effects on the body. Due to which many people get sick again and it is not possible to observe the rest of the fasts properly. The root of this is wrong eating. It will be discussed today.

What kind of problems can happen in Ramadan:

# constipation. Eating too much fried food, drinking less water and not keeping fibrous foods in the menu can cause this problem.

# can cause headaches. Those who have coffee or smoking habit can often get such headache after fasting all day.

What should be the diet:

1. Many people overeat during Iftar after fasting all day. In order to avoid harming your health, you must refrain from overeating at Iftar. Eating too much food at once after fasting all day can upset your digestive system.

2. Avoid extra fatty foods at Iftari. Eat less fried food as much as possible. This will keep the weight under control.

3. Try to eat as much salt as possible during fasting. Because eating more salt will make you more thirsty for water. Since you cannot drink water throughout the day, your body can become dehydrated.

4. It is better not to rely too much on sugary syrups or soft drinks to prevent dehydration. Consuming home-made syrups and fruit juices in moderation would be wise.

5. Aim to have enough fruits and vegetables in every Iftar and Sehri.

Foods to eat more of:

• Fibrous foods

• Food rich in carbohydrates

• Local fruits, vegetables etc

• Water abundantly

Avoid excessive food intake, fried foods, foods with excess sugar, excessive tea and soft drinks. If you follow these rules, you can stay healthy even after fasting this Ramadan.
