The Dhaka Times Desk A group of researchers in South Korea claim that they have been able to create an energy reservoir for mobile phones using the chemical components of cigarette filters and cigarette filters. That is, they have managed to make mobile phone batteries from discarded cigarette filters.
Their research work was published in the world-renowned journal Nanotechnology last Tuesday. A group of scientists from Seoul National University conducted this research. When asked how they turned a cigarette filter into a battery, they said that cigarette filters contain a fiber called cellulose acetate. Which is basically a type of toxin. This is very bad for the environment. They turned this toxin into an energy source. They also said that this research of theirs is showing the way for a green environment. They are turning highly toxic materials into renewable energy. Most of these chemicals are carbon based materials. which is converted into chemical energy in just one step. The study was supervised by Zhong Ying Yi, head of the Department of Power and Energy at Seoul National University and one of the study's researchers.
The last-minute results of this research are what the researchers call supercapacitors. They say it can hold much more energy than conventional batteries. Batteries made with this filter will be able to charge much faster. Zhong Yingyi said that the storage capacity of batteries made from this material will be higher than that of ordinary batteries because it will contain more carbon or carbon derivatives. One of the components of supercapacitors is carbon. Carbon has high electrical conductivity, permeability and electrical capacity. It should be noted that according to the US anti-smoking movement organization Nonsmoker's Rights, 765,000 tons of smoking waste are generated worldwide every year.
