The Dhaka Times Desk Workers protested and went on strike inside a garment factory named Yagi Bangladesh Garments Ltd in Berun area of Ashulia in Savar to protest against unpaid wages and layoffs.
On Monday morning, more than 900 workers entered the factory and demanded the arrears of salary from the authorities. Meanwhile, when the factory authorities told the workers that they could not pay their salaries today due to some problems, they did not join the work and held a protest and strike inside the factory. On the other hand, the authorities dismissed 44 workers on the charge of inciting the workers' movement and creating chaos inside the factory. In the morning, the retrenched workers also came to stand in front of the factory.
Industrial Police 1-Director Mostafizar Rahman said, I am trying to talk to the owners about the issue of payment of outstanding salaries to the workers, I hope the matter will be resolved. He said that additional police are deployed in front of the factory to avoid any untoward incident.
