Visa application process for traveling from Bangladesh to USA has been simplified and improved. From now on, Bangladeshi applicants can apply online according to the new rules and fix the interview schedule according to their choice. Again, for their information convenience, Bangladeshi citizens can call the call center and get assistance in both Bengali and English languages. This new rule will be implemented from September 14. The call center will be operational from Sunday to Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm.

Michele Thoren Bond told the journalists present that the middle class population is growing in Bangladesh. Along with that, the visa application to visit the United States is also increasing. In 2013, 70 thousand visa applications were submitted from Bangladesh. Among them, 30,000 visas were approved. Out of which there are about 2000 students. That is why the visa process has been changed to make it easier to get a visa.

Earlier after applying online, applicants had to visit the Simon Center in person to know the interview schedule. It said that while the online interview is scheduled, Simon Overseas will collect the applicants' documents and return the passports as before. Apart from Dhaka, documents can be submitted and passports can be collected from Chittagong and Sylhet branches of Simon Overseas.
In the new system, if the applicants get the interview schedule, then they can deposit the visa fee at HSBC Bank's Dhaka, Narayanganj, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chittagong branches and get a one-year deposit receipt. It is reported that visa fee is not being deposited in Standard Chartered Bank from last August 31. However, those who have deposited money in Standard Chartered Bank within a period of less than one year can apply for visa using the deposit receipt. However, after August 31, it has been informed that the visa fee will be deposited only in HSBC Bank.
