According to a news published in the media, a person named Arab Ali went to the secretariat with a car on the afternoon of September 14. The number of that car is Dhaka Metro C-17-5369. He reached there and asked Belal, the driver, to park the car in front of the secretariat passenger tent and entered.
After some time a man named Karim made an offer to driver Belal to go to Hemayetpur in Savar. The man lured Belal with big money. Hearing about the rent of 3 thousand rupees, Belal also agreed. On the way, the said Karim picked up another of his associates in the car. After going to Hemayetpur, they tricked the driver by mixing anesthetic with food and took the car unconscious. Referring to the matter, the owner of the car, Arab Ali, filed a case at the Shahbag police station. Arab Ali's son Faisal posted a status on Facebook upset thinking the car was stolen. According to the news media, after seeing this post of Faisal on Facebook, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Intelligence and Crime Information Department Abdullah Al Mamun contacted the number given on Facebook. He shows Arab Ali and his driver pictures of car thieves and hijackers saved in the album of the Car Theft and Robbery, Rescue and Prevention Team. Looking at the photo in the album, the driver Belal identified a person - his name was Belal. After that, the detective team raided the Hakimpur police station area of Dinajpur and recovered the car from in front of Hotel Northern Palace on September 18.
It is known that the car thief Farooq and his other two accomplices escaped after realizing the presence of the police during the operation. Efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.
