The Dhaka Times Desk The High Court ordered the formalin detection device to be tested, accordingly the Bangladesh Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) started testing the effectiveness of this device. BCSIR said after their tests that formalin detection device Formaldehyde Meter Z-300 cannot actually test formalin accurately.
BCSIR said they will submit their report to the court. Before this, if the presence of formalin in various food products including fruits and fish was suspected, Formaldehyde Meter Z-300 device was imported in the country and formalin test was started with it. However, when questions were raised about the effectiveness of this machine in various quarters, a writ was filed in the court. The court ordered the test of the device used to confirm formalin in edible products. Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice Md. The division bench of Habibul Gani gave this verdict.
Later, BCSIA launched a detailed study on how this formalin detection device gives results, and the results of that study showed that this device named Formaldehyde Meter Z-300 cannot actually confirm the presence of formaldehyde.
Experts say that to understand the presence of formalin with this device, it has to be placed in a hot place with the product, so this device shows a value that is assumed to be the presence of formaldehyde. BCSIR researchers say they have found a variety of dubious indications of this standard.
It is to be noted that earlier the court has asked the health secretary, food secretary, home secretary to respond to the ruling to find out why the formalin test in this device will not be illegal after testing the formaldehyde detection device within 3 weeks.
