The Dhaka Times Desk Finally, the pro-independence forces of this country got the desired verdict. International Crimes Tribunal-1 has hanged Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Saeedee for crimes against humanity. This judgment is the third judgment of the International Criminal Tribunal.
The International Criminal Tribunal-1 sentenced Jamaat Naib Amir Delawar Hossain Saeedee to death by hanging, accused of crimes against humanity. The tribunal announced this verdict on Thursday as 8 of the 20 charges against Saeedee were proved beyond doubt. The verdict was read from 11:19 am to 1:40 pm. The first part of the judgment of 120 pages was read by the member of the judging panel, Anwarul Haque. Justice Jahangir Hossain, another member of the panel of judges, read the later part and the main part of the verdict was read by Chairman Justice ATM Fazle Kabir.
The International Criminal Tribunal was formed on March 25, 2010 to try war criminals involved in crimes against humanity during the 1971 War of Liberation. About 3 years after the formation, judgment was pronounced against a third accused. However, the first tribunal gave a verdict in Saeedi's case. Saidi's case is case number 1 of Tribunal-1.
The judgment of the other two cases was announced in the second tribunal formed on March 22 last year. Among them, the tribunal gave a verdict against Jamaat's former Rokan (member) Abul Kalam Azad Bachchu Razakar by ordering the death sentence on January 21. The same tribunal sentenced Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Abdul Quader Mollah to life imprisonment on February 5.
Judges have broken their oath: Saeedi
Bangladesh News24 reported that Maulana Delawar Hossain Saeedi said in response to the verdict of the International Criminal Tribunal that the judges had broken their oath. This verdict has been given to please the atheists and Shahbagh agitators. I do not accept this judgment.
