The Dhaka Times Desk Matiur Rahman Nizami's execution is being executed tonight. Relatives of 21 members have already met.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that Motiur Rahman Nizami, who was sentenced to death for war crimes, did not appeal to the President for mercy. He said that necessary measures are being taken to execute him as he did not ask for alms. Today (Tuesday) at 8:10 PM, the minister told reporters.
Earlier in the evening, Jail authorities sent a letter to Nizami's relatives to meet him. After being called by the jail authorities, Nizami's relatives reached the jail gate around 7:50 pm. Then at 7:57 they entered the prison.
Among the relatives were Nizami's wife Shamsunnahar Nizami, eldest son Dr. Khalid, younger son Barrister Najeeb Momen, daughter Khadija Mohsina, elder son's wife, 2 grandsons, Nizami's cousin and his daughter are said to be close relatives.
Meanwhile, the jail authorities have made preparations for the execution. Security arrangements have been made in Dhaka Central Jail. The execution is expected to take place tonight.
